24 CATHCART RD

London, UK 1985–1986
PROGRAM : Residential interior and furniture
Client         : Bitar
SIZE           : Total floor area: 435 m² (1 floor)

CONCEPT:
This International Style residence provided the backdrop for the first material display of Zaha’s ‘Suprematist geology’, an extension of my exploration at 59 Eaton Place. The ensembles include our Bitar furniture, which created a dynamic space of their own, rather than acting as sculptural objects in a neutral container. Pivoting, sliding and swivelling, a storage wall further animated the space with the actual physical movements of its doors and cabinets.

ARCHITECT: ZAHA HADID ARCHITECTS
DESIGN       : Zaha Hadid with Michael Wolfson, Brett Steele, Nan Lee, Brenda MacKenson
